The Barbados (Ottawa) Association was formed at a time when about 75 persons comprised Ottawa’s Barbadian community on the night of November 30th, 1966. The six Barbadians who started the group had a vision of hope and realized that they needed to mobilize to assist new Barbadians who were adapting to life in Canada and to share our Barbadian heritage with the wider community. In 1984 the association joined with other Barbadian associations in Canada to establish NCBAC. The first executive of the council was elected at the general meeting held in Ottawa and two conferences have been hosted by Ottawa in 1990 and 1998. | Barbados (Ottawa) Association Inc.2008-2010 President: ArchivesJuly 2011 Categories |
