The Barbados (Ottawa) Association has a new executive. The following persons were elected on June 25, 2010 to serve until May 2012:
President Ms. Sandra Asgill Vice-President Mr. Aaron Deane Secretary Mr. Trevor Edwards Treasurer Ms. Charlene Mahon Committee Members Mr. Rudolph "Flash" Brathwaite, Mr. Leslie Alleyne, Mr. Morris Redman The Barbados (Ottawa) Association was formed at a time when about 75 persons comprised Ottawa’s Barbadian community on the night of November 30th, 1966. The six Barbadians who started the group had a vision of hope and realized that they needed to mobilize to assist new Barbadians who were adapting to life in Canada and to share our Barbadian heritage with the wider community. In 1984 the association joined with other Barbadian associations in Canada to establish NCBAC. The first executive of the council was elected at the general meeting held in Ottawa and two conferences have been hosted by Ottawa in 1990 and 1998. Following is the 2008-2010 Barbados (Ottawa) Association Executive and Events Schedule for 2008. For any information, please contact Ms. Sandra Asgill, President at (613) 843-1448 or at [email protected] |
