WORKING TOWARDS A BETTER FUTURE ACROSS CANADA- 2019 CONFERENCE THEME
May 31, 2019- A Welcome Reception was attended by some of the conference attendees, at the HOLIDAY INN YORKDALE- TORONTO. Photos of the room below are of the Allure room before everyone arrived for the reception getting acquainted with those we had never met before and getting caught up by those who had not seen each other for a while. WE WERE TOLD THAT there were not as many attendees as in previous years but the conversation and laughter were nice to hear in any case. His excellency Reginald Farley, High Commissioner of Barbados to Canada provided some welcoming words along with Kevin Carrington, MC, and Antoinette Zloty, 2019 conference coordinator and one of the presenters.
More candid photos were taken Saturday, June 1, when NCBAC held three workshop sessions on leadership, grant writing project management and mentorship. Everyone participated really well and later completed an evaluation form which was summarized and shared at the June 2nd AGM along with the comments and discussion summaries from each of the sessions. The main themes that came out of the presentations and discussions were: need for engagement of youths but also people who are between the senior and youth age group , need for mentorship across all ages, need to pursue grants, need to keep NCBAC going and grow the number of member associations, the need to network, to share information and help Barbadians at home in Canada as well as at home in Barbados. See Past events page for the full program.
